LONDEN (ANP) - Xavi Simons (foto, links) is dinsdag geopereerd aan zijn rechterknie. De 23-jarige international en zijn club Tottenham Hotspur meldden de operatie via social media met een foto van Simons in een ziekenhuisbed. Simons raakte zwaar geblesseerd op 25 april in een duel met Wolverhampton Wanderers. Hij scheurde de voorste kruisband in zijn rechterknie. Hij is mogelijk twaalf maanden uitgeschakeld en mist het WK.
