GELSENKIRCHEN (ANP/DPA) Schalke 04 speelt vanaf komend seizoen weer op het hoogste voetbalniveau in Duitsland. Het elftal van trainer Miron Muslic verzekerde zich dankzij een zege van 1-0 op Fortuna Düsseldorf van promotie. Schalke degradeerde in 2023 voor het laatst uit de Bundesliga. "Deze promotie is heel bijzonder", zei Youri Mulder, de Nederlandse directeur voetbalzaken van Schalke tegen zender NITRO.
