'Midden-Oosten zonder oorlog vereist tweestaten- oplossing'

BRUSSEL (ANP) EU-buitenlandchef Kaja Kallas erkent dat na jaren van oorlog nauwelijks vooruitgang is geboekt voor een tweestatenoplossing. Toch blijft dat volgens haar "de meest haalbare weg naar een Midden-Oosten zonder oorlog", zei ze na afloop van de negende Globale Alliantie voor de uitvoering van de Tweestatenoplossing in Brussel. Israël en de Palestijnse Autoriteit moeten beiden hun verantwoordelijkheid nemen, zei Kallas. Israël moet stoppen met de uitbreiding van zijn nederzettingen, moet misdaden van kolonisten bestraffen en ingehouden Palestijnse belastinginkomsten vrijgeven, somde ze tijdens een persconferentie op. Op zijn beurt moet de Palestijnse Autoriteit hervormingen doorvoeren. "In Gaza blijft de weigering van Hamas om te ontwapenen een groot obstakel voor vrede.
