Aardbeving Haïti kostte aan zeker 2189 mensen het leven

PORT-AU-PRINCE (ANP/RTR) Het dodental als gevolg van de verwoestende aardbeving die Haïti zaterdag trof is inmiddels opgelopen tot 2189. Woensdag stond de balans volgens de Haïtiaanse autoriteiten nog op 1941 slachtoffers. Zeker 12.000 mensen raakten gewond. De schade is enorm. Het zoeken naar overlevenden is momenteel bemoeilijkt door een zware storm met regenval die voor overstromingen zorgde. Buitenlandse media berichten dat duizenden mensen momenteel zonder water en voedsel zitten en op hulp wachten.
